Meeting Notes from 7/16/22:

Meeting started at approximately 1:30 pm

Members present: Laurie McFarland, Earl Beighley, Marsha Beighley, Bernard Dacey, Dee Spirock, and Jared Francis.

  • Commissioning Ceremony
    • NM Comic Expo Cancelled – Bubonicon will host us!
      • Saturday, August 27^th at 11:00am
      • Panel room for 32 with table at front
    • Bubonicon will also offer us a special rate
      • $25 per person for the weekend
      • Can be done as a group, but can also be done separately – just notify me so I can let Bubonicon know
    • Broadcast for distance members – will notify Aaron, see if we can change to WebX or Zoom
    • Guests/gifts for guests/Founding Member Gifts – Jared/Laurie
      • Ordering test item today
    • Invitations and Programs
      • Invite will be ready to go shortly – need to confirm addresses for mailing
      • Program and Script are also being finalized
    • Refreshments/Dinner
      • Marsha will look for individual wrapped snacks (Covid concerns)
      • With panel moved to morning, switch to lunch instead – around 1:00pm
    • Decorations
      • Bernard has SFI and Marine flags – is getting poles
      • Laurie ordering some FLEET-colored bunting today and making FLEET/Regional logo decorations
    • Recruitment Flyers
      • Under development
    • Reminder – Membership renewal – Bernard (done!)
    • Ship’s Logo – Marsha’s design
      • Will finalize logo
      • Laurie will email Dee the font to use
    • Ship’s Motto, Slogan, and Unofficial Slogan
      • Left open; will want to make decision after Commissioning

        • Little Shop of Horrors
          • Will attend as a group on July 24^th at the Desert Rose
          • Tickets are available on-line
          • Post to FB what seats you have when you get them
        • Bowling in Santa Fe
          • Jared suggested – has friends who might want to join
          • Will post date/time to FB
          • Group might be able to carpool
        • Earl & Marsha suggested trip to the ABQ Zoo
          • Sometime the week of August 7^th
          • Earl will post to FB date/time so everyone can make arrangements
        • STARFLEET Election Season now here
          • As a Chapter-in-Training, we couldn’t nominate anyone, but that time is over
          • Candidates for CS and VCS named – there are four
          • Laurie will post their info on FB so all members can reach out to the candidates to make a decision
        • Next Business Meeting
          • Set back to regular schedule after the holiday this month
          • Will be Saturday, July 30^th at 1:00pm
          • Possibly figure out how to WebX/Zoom business meetings as well?
        • Awards/Promotions
          • Laurie will email the Command Staff the list of awards by August 1^st
          • Command Staff should make comments, list any additional awards they are aware of by August 8^th
          • Laurie will then make certificates for presentation at Commissioning
